Artist Decoded is a podcast / passion project started in 2015 by visual artist, Yoshino.
"I started this series as a means for exploration, an exploration of self and an exploration of the perspectives of other artists.
This series is an unabridged documentation of conversations between artists. Dedicated to breaking down the barriers we tend to set up in our own minds. I want to inspire future creatives to have the courage to explore and experiment. This is about making dreams a reality and not about letting our dreams fall to the wayside.
My intention is to give my audience a sense of real human connection, something that feels rich and organic.
When I was thinking of a title I thought of the word “movement”.
In relation to the Renaissance period in art, my goal for this program is to signify a rebirth of consciousness towards the way we look at contemporary art." - Yoshino
Hosts

YOSHINO
Host + Founder
He is also the co-founder of LA based art collective, NOH/WAVE.
“It has been three years since Yoshino entered my life, equipped with a microphone and a shit ton of curiosity. In those three years, I have gotten to know one of the most disciplined humans I’ve ever met. Somebody who is a compassionate friend, a terrific mentor, and an overall creative powerhouse that continuously blows my mind. I can confidently say that Yoshino is one of my favorite individuals in the whole world... he also cooks damn good food (nom nom mother fuckers).” - Saman Kesh
Justin Daashuur Hopkins is a multi-disciplinary artist. He began his career at the age of 14 as a professional illustrator. Throughout his career he has shifted between the worlds of music, film, painting, and drawing. He is the co-founder of the artist collective, NOH/WAVE.
“I met Justin on Episode #7 of the podcast. There’s a lot of depth beneath his calm, and stoic demeanor. I’ve learned a lot about him since I met him back in 2015. He’s probably one of the most fascinating people I know. In 2017 we started working together more regularly. I feel like I’ve been in the trenches with him and without Justin, NOH/WAVE, would not exist. Justin is a true artist and a great friend. He’s a brother to me, and I’m proud to have him as an official part of Artist Decoded.” - Yoshino

“Kesh is an avid learner and supporter of the arts. When I first met him on Episode #50, their was something electric about my interaction with him. I always like meeting with Saman because he is constantly curious. We always try to dissect the intricacies of life, and segue that into a multitude of existentialist ideologies. Saman is also a true empath, and lover of people. I cherish him very much as a friend and I’m excited to have him as part of the AD family.” - Yoshino
